Replace a file on an existing offer

Uploading a new version of your product, and what past buyers get.

Who this is for: Sellers updating a product they're already selling.

Updated

Replace the file

Edit the offer and upload the new file. It's scanned like any upload, and once it clears it becomes the file that offer delivers.

The offer keeps serving the old file until the replacement clears scanning, so there's no gap where buyers get nothing.

What new buyers get

The new file, from the moment the replacement clears.

What past buyers get

The version that was current when they bought — permanently.

Their links keep working and keep serving their original version. Resending doesn't change that: a resent link delivers the file as it was at the time of their purchase, not the file on the offer now.

This is deliberate. A buyer's order is a record of what they paid for, and Koarge delivers exactly that.

Getting an update to past buyers

There's no way to do this through Koarge. Replacing the file doesn't reach anyone who has already bought, and no resend will push the new version to them.

If your buyers should have the update, your options are outside Koarge:

Email them the file yourself. Export your orders, and send your own message with the new version attached or linked from wherever you keep it. More work, but you control the wording — and an update is a good reason to be in a past buyer's inbox.

Sell the new version as a separate offer. Suitable when the update is substantial enough to be its own product, or when you want to offer it at a discount to existing buyers.

If your product updates regularly

Say clearly on your product page whether purchase includes future updates. Since Koarge can't deliver them, promising lifetime updates commits you to handling every one by hand — and buyers who assume lifetime updates and don't get them tend to say so publicly.

Storage

Replacing a file doesn't free space. The old version is kept so past buyers keep getting what they paid for, and it still counts against your storage allowance. Replace a 100 MB file five times and all six versions are held.

If it doesn't work

  • The new file was rejected. See Which files you can sell. The offer keeps serving the old file until a replacement clears.

  • Storage didn't drop after replacing. It won't. Old versions are retained.

  • A past buyer says they got the old file. That's correct behaviour — see above.
