A receipt email bounced
What a bounce means, why it happens, and what to do about the buyer waiting on the other end.
How you'll know
You don't have to catch this yourself. When an email to a buyer bounces, Koarge shows an alert on your Overview and on the order in Orders, with a resend option. You also get an email telling you it happened.
What a bounce is
The receiving mail server refused the message. It didn't land in spam — it didn't arrive at all.
Why it happens
The address doesn't exist. Nearly always a typo at checkout. gmial.com, a missing letter, a stray character.
The mailbox is full. Uncommon but real, and it usually resolves itself.
The receiving server refused it. Some corporate mail systems block messages containing download links, particularly from unfamiliar domains.
What to do
Check the address on the order first. If it's obviously mistyped and you can work out what was meant, resend to the corrected address — the resend option lets you enter a different one.
If you can't tell what they meant, wait for the buyer to contact you. They've paid and received nothing, so they usually will. Watch your reply-to inbox and any other channel you're reachable on.
If it's a corporate address refusing the message repeatedly, ask the buyer for a personal address and resend there.
Don't just resend to the same address
A bounce for a nonexistent mailbox will bounce again. Repeatedly sending to bad addresses damages your sending reputation, which affects delivery to buyers whose addresses are fine.
Reducing bounces
Verifying your sending domain improves how receiving servers treat your mail. See Send emails from your own domain.
If it doesn't work
If the address is definitely valid and mail keeps bouncing, contact support with the order number.
