Connect your Stripe account

Linking your own Stripe account to Koarge so payments go straight to you, and what happens if you disconnect it.

Who this is for: New sellers. This is the step nothing else works without.

Updated

What you're connecting

Koarge uses your own Stripe account rather than sitting between you and your money. You keep full access to your Stripe dashboard, and payments from your buyers land in your Stripe balance directly.

If you don't have a Stripe account yet, you can create one during this process.

Connect

You can do this from either your seller dashboard or the Koarge plugin in Framer — it's the same connection.

  1. Go to Setup → Stripe.

  2. Choose to connect. You'll be handed over to Stripe.

  3. Sign in to your existing Stripe account, or create one.

  4. Stripe asks you to confirm the connection and sends you back to Koarge.

Your Stripe tab now shows your account as connected.

Nothing sells until this is done

You can create offers before connecting Stripe, but you can't make them active — they'll save as archived. An offer can't go on sale when there's nowhere for the money to go.

Your selling currency also comes from here. Stripe sets it from your account's country, and it's the currency your payouts arrive in. See What your buyers can pay with.

Finishing your Stripe account

Creating an account and being able to accept payments are two different things. Stripe needs your business details, identity verification, and a bank account before it will enable charges.

Skip any of that and Koarge will show your account as connected but restricted — buyers won't be able to pay. Finish Stripe's onboarding before you go live. See Your Stripe account is restricted.

Test and live mode

Setup → Stripe is also where you switch between test and live mode. New accounts start in test mode, so you can buy your own offer with a test card before anything is real. See Take a test payment before you go live.

Disconnecting

Go to Setup → Stripe and choose to disconnect. You'll be asked to confirm, because the consequence is immediate and your buyers feel it before you do.

Checkout stops working straight away. Buyers arriving at your site can't pay.

Your Stripe account itself is untouched. Your balance, payout schedule, past charges, and dashboard access all stay exactly as they were — disconnecting from Koarge is not closing your Stripe account.

Nothing in Koarge is deleted either. Your offers, past orders, uploaded files, and settings all remain, and buyers who already purchased keep their download links until those links expire or hit their download limit.

Reconnecting

Same as connecting the first time — Setup → Stripe, connect.

Reconnect the same Stripe account and your existing orders still line up with the charges behind them.

Connect a different one and past orders stay in Koarge as historical records, but they point at charges in an account that's no longer linked. Since refunds are issued in Stripe rather than in Koarge, refunding one of those older orders means going to the original Stripe account's dashboard directly.

If it doesn't work

  • You're sent back to Koarge but nothing changed. The connection was probably cancelled partway through. Start again and complete every Stripe screen.

  • It says your account is restricted. Stripe hasn't finished enabling you for charges. See Your Stripe account is restricted.

  • You connected the wrong account. Disconnect and connect again with the right one, before you take any sales on it.

  • Checkout still fails after reconnecting. Reload your dashboard, then check your offers are still active.
