Take a test payment before you go live

Test mode lets you buy your own offer with a fake card, so you can confirm everything works before real money moves.

Who this is for: Anyone who's finished setup and wants to check it end to end. Do this before your first real sale.

What test mode is

Test mode runs your checkout against Stripe's test environment. Real cards are refused, test cards are accepted, and no money moves. Everything else behaves normally: orders appear, emails send, download links work.

Run the test

  1. Switch to test mode from Setup → Stripe, if you aren't already there — new accounts start in test mode.

  2. Open your published Framer page and click your checkout button.

  3. Pay using the Stripe test card 4242 4242 4242 4242, any future expiry date, and any 3-digit CVC.

  4. Complete checkout.

What to check afterwards

  • The order shows up under Orders, on the test orders view.

  • The receipt email arrives.

  • For a digital offer, the the download link in the drawer opens your file page, and the download button works.

  • The delivery email arrives and its link works too.

  • The file is the one you meant to sell — open it, don't just check that it downloads.

Test orders and your numbers

Test orders are kept separate. They don't count toward your revenue totals or order counts, so you don't need to clean them up before going live.

If it doesn't work

  • Checkout doesn't open. Your Framer site probably hasn't been published since you added the button. If it has, check your offer is active rather than archived.

  • The card is declined. Confirm you're in test mode and using a Stripe test card. Real cards fail here by design.

  • No emails. Check the address you bought with, and check spam. Domain verification isn't required for test emails.

  • No download link. Your offer is likely set to Digital with no file attached, or the file hasn't finished scanning.
